Stella Soyoung Chun, one of our Executive Directors, has attended Overseas Korean Trade Association's Future Leaders' Trade School in Vancouver this year. Here is her report!
About OKTA:
OKTA is the only business organization the Korean government recognizes internationally and funds annually. OKTA is composed of many current global business leaders who have built the foundations of Korea's continuing business success. The annual OKTA Trade School is currently the only opportunity for young and upcoming future business leaders to join this network. Vancouver OKTA Trade School was held at UBC from July 1, 2010 to July 3, 2010.
Program included:
- Innovative guest speakers
- Group marketing project
- Networking/Mingling sessions
Testimonial:
"Attending 5th annual Vancouver-OKTA's Future Leaders' Trade School was a new experience for me. I have attended many conferences but due to my study of field, it was mainly science-related conferences. However, OKTA opened up my eyes for a different field. OKTA didn't limit their participants to just businessmen but people from every field. The three day workshop consisted of lectures on trade, success stories by many Korean-Canadian businessmen and a group project. The group project allowed the participants to get a sense of what it would be like to be a seller by marketing a product, to practice presentation skills and more importantly, to build teamwork. I was able to build brand new relationships with the people I met at OKTA and regretted that I didn't know about OKTA sooner. OKTA has world-wide connections and I was able to meet with people from US and Japan as well. Being able to form and maintain global network is one of the most important factors in my life. With its improving program and quality of OKTA, I have no doubt that it will be a success in the subsequent years to come." - Stella Soyoung Chun From KCLDC West Chapter
